Call for Volunteers
The Winthrop Farmer’s market needs your help

“Many hands make light work” as the saying goes and the Winthrop Farmer’s Market is no exception.
The Winthrop Farmer’s Market Committee is asking local residents to consider volunteering their time to assist with the set up and break down of the markets on Sundays in July, August and September.
The remaining markets for this season will take place on July 13 and 27, August 10 and 24 and September 7 and 21.
The existing committee includes ten people who have been working on the planning and establishment of the market since last fall. However, several of the committee members are also vendors and others are not always free on Sunday mornings to help out.
“We could really use two or three more people, particularly on the market mornings to help set up and direct vendors about where to go and how to get prepared,” said Assistant to the Town Manager Joseph Domelowicz, who has been coordinating the committee. “Our volunteers have been great and this market wouldn’t have happened without them, but the hectic time now is on Sunday mornings.”
Anyone who is interested in volunteering to help with the market set up, or in some other capacity, is welcome to participate either by contacting Domelowicz at 617-846-1852 x 1013 or by emailing the committee at winthropfarmersmarket@yahoo.com.
The committee is grateful to all residents for the support they’ve shown to the market this year.

The Town is instituting a “carry in, carry out” policy at our beaches and parks.  If you bring any food or refreshments, please leave with your trash. During these busy summer months, trash can accumulate in the barrels faster than our DPW workers can pick up.  This policy will help ensure that our beaches and parks remain clean and a continued source of pride for our town.
