Tonight from 4 to 8PM, Winthrop Center will host the first of 13 weekly Open Air markets. Everyone is invited down to the Center for this family-friendly event, to be held each Thursday throughout June, July, and August. Help make French Square Market a community success!

The Boston Harbor Association's Emerging Professionals Committee invites you to join us in helping to clean up Winthrop and Yirrell Beaches. In partnership with Speaker Robert DeLeo and the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, we will be tackling the coastline from the southern end of Yirrell Beach to the northern end of Winthrop Beach. The Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide all of the necessary equipment. Come meet new friends, join your neighbors, and do a little good for our community!
Boston Harbor Cruises is offering complimentary round trip tickets aboard the Winthrop ferry for the first 50 participants in the cleanup effort - so make sure to get there early! We will be providing light snacks and beverages to all volunteers as well.
On Saturday June 9th, 2012 at 10:00 AM, the Winthrop Special Olympics will be holding it's annual Driscoll Meheagan Track Invitational at Miller Field. Everyone is invited to this incredible event, with a cookout sponsored by the Winthrop Police Association, immediately following the awards presentation. It's a feel good event that requires nothing but your attendance and enthusiasm; a great time is had by all. We hope to see you there!
Town-Wide Yard Sale Saturday June 9
Winthrop’s 4th annual Town-Wide Yard Sale is this Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine. There will be a trove of hidden treasures to be found in Winthrop on Saturday! With 91 homes holding yard sales in just 1.6 square miles, bargain-hunters will be able to hit lots of places in a short amount of time. The Winthrop Ferry is back!
Ferry service will resume on Saturday, May 26th. The Ferry is a great way to get to and from Boston. Whether your commuting to work or just heading into Boston for dinner, the ferry is fast and easy. EASTERN MASS THEATER FESTIVAL
The new Chelmsford High School Performing Arts Center will host the biennial EMACT (Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theater) festival of performance and competition June 28-30, 2012.~ In three-play sessions, eleven theater groups will present a variety of complete, but compressed, plays to showcase their production talent, and for the opportunity to improve their craft.
Tickets for each session are $25, and the full-festival pass (4 sessions) is $75.~ These may be purchased at the website www.emact.org, or at the door.~ Adjudications will be given at the end of each session and are free to attend. Parking is plentiful and access is convenient, just off I-495 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
