French Square Open-Air Market
Tonight!

Music, Crafts, Food Kick-Off Summer-Long Festivities
Tonight from 4 to 8PM, Winthrop Center will host its weekly Open Air market. Everyone is invited down to the Center for this family-friendly event, to be held each Thursday throughout June, July, and August. Help make French Square Market a community success!

Also, after French Square Market, come over to Ingleside Park for Movie Night sponsored by Parks and Recreation.  Movie starts at 8:00pm.

This Saturday, July 21st- Family Day at the Beach

Fun & games in store at the Chamber’s “Family Day at the Beach” on July 21st.
Beautiful Yirrell Beach on Point Shirley will be the place to be for fun in the sun for the 15th annual “Old Fashioned Family Day at the Beach.”~ In the event of rain, the event will be held Sunday, July 22.
There will be lots to do for both kids and adults, with activities running from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.~ Kids will enjoy taking a dip in the wave-runner and on the water-slide. Spinning the tunes throughout the day will be DJ Jeff Lyons with some awesome beach music.~ There will also be giveaways, games, raffles, a barbecue and much more.

Contests will take place all day.~ They are free to enter and always entertaining.~ The schedule for the day is as follows: 11:00 a.m. - Scavenger Hunt; 11:30 a.m. - Simon Says; 12:00 p.m. - Water Balloon Toss; 12:30 p.m. - Look-Alike Contest; 12:45 p.m. - Animal Imitation Contest; 1:00 p.m. - Adult Spelling Bee; 1:30 p.m. - Winthrop’s Got Talent; 2:00 p.m. - Hat Contest; 2:30 p.m. - Dance Contest; 3:00 p.m. - Hula Hoop Contest.

This will be the 15th year the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce has sponsored this summertime event, and it keeps on getting bigger and better.~ There will be lots to do and enjoy, so be sure to bring a camera.~ Special thanks to For Kids Only After school program, Parks & Recreation, and the Winthrop Fire and Public Works departments for their assistance and to the Winthrop Marketplace for their great support.~ For more information call 617-846-9898.

There is a Town Council Casino Sub-Committee meeting on Tuesday, July 24th at 7:00 in the Harvey Hearing Room.  Everyone is welcome.  The agenda includes public comment, input and conversation about the proposed Suffolk Downs Casino.

Congratulations to Heather Buccini on securing a role in the North Shore Music Theater’s production of Annie.  Heather beat out hundreds of other children to land one of seven coveted roles.  Heather is 9 years old and attends the Arthur T. Cummings Elementary School.  Annie will run through July 29th at the North Shore Music Theater.  Good luck Heather and break a leg!

The Winthrop High School cheerleaders will be holding a car wash on Saturday, July 21st from 8:00am – 1:00pm at the Cummings School Circle on Pauline Street.  Come out and have your car cleaned while helping out
a good cause!

Take the Winthrop Ferry to Spectacle Island this weekend!

This Sunday, July 22nd, relax on the porch of Spectacle Island and listen to the jazz of Berklee College of Alex Baboian.  Visitors will be captivated by the sounds of Berklee's notable up-and-comers playing original music while taking in the sights of Spectacle Island.  Music starts at 1:00 pm.

The Winthrop Ferry leaves the Town Landing for Spectacle Island at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm every Saturday and Sunday. It returns to Winthrop from Spectacle Island at 10:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm –
Don't miss that last boat!

Adults: $8/one way
Seniors (65+)/Disabled: $4
Children, 11 and under: $4
Blind persons w/ID: FREE
10-ride ticket: $60
10-ride ticket Seniors/Child: $30
