WHS Varsity Cheerleaders volunteered at the TD Garden last weekend by entertaining blood donors, staff and volunteers at the Red Cross Blood Drive.    This is the third year they have been invited.  The cheerleaders talked to the famous author/athlete Brian Boyle, and they were allowed to make it down to the ice to watch the Boston Bruins practice.  For their constant service with the Red Cross, they have put us in a raffle to get a scholarship for Winthrop High School from Bob’s Discount Store.  Nice job Lady Vikings!

The Winthrop Middle School Student Council and 8th grade Volunteer Vikings have joined forces to collect pairs of jeans for the campaign “TEENS FOR JEANS” sponsored by “DoSomething Org” and “Aeropostale”.  The donated jeans will support homeless teens, children and adults.  A pair of jeans is the #1 clothing item that teens in shelters request.  The school that collects the most jeans will win $10,000 for their school.  We are looking for used jeans, in good condition, for all sizes.  For your donation you will receive a 25% coupon off your next pair of jeans from Aeropostale.  Coupons will be provided after Feburary 10th for jeans donated at school. Please spread the word to family and friends.  Students can bring jeans to school and drop off in boxes in the lobby until Friday, February 1, 2013.  Family and friends, in state or out of state, can drop off jeans at their local Aeropostale and name WINTHROP MIDDLE SCHOOL as the team support.  Thank you in advance for your support!
