Winthrop Beach Nourishment – Phase III

At this meeting, DCR will share information about Phase III of this project, which will nourish the northern end of Winthrop Beach for shore protection. Phase I of the project involved the repair of two structures at the southern part of the beach that played an important role in stabilizing the beach nourishment that was accomplished on the southern end of Winthrop Beach, in Phase II.
DCR will describe the Phase III construction plans, schedule and impacts, as well as plans for addressing any impacts. At a future public meeting, DCR will discuss Phase IV of the project, which will result in improvements to Shore Drive.
The entire $25 million, four-phase Winthrop Beach Restoration project is designed to better fortify Winthrop Beach against the full force of northeast storm and natural beach erosion.
