200 high school students participated in the Relay for Life last Friday at James Sartori Memorial Stadium in East Boston. For the 5th year in a row, For Pete Sake, under team captain and cancer survivor Pete Gobiel, participated. At Relay for Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay for Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track. Events are up to 24 hours long and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. The team raised over $3,350.00 for this cause. If you would like to learn more or make a contribution visit and donate under team “For Pete Sake”.

Winthrop Fireworks
Winthrop is gearing up for another exciting Fireworks display on the 4th of July.  The 4th of July is about bringing the community together and enjoying summer activities while connecting with others from the community or with those visiting. I am excited to continue the long tradition in Winthrop of bringing families, friends and neighbors together.

The Fireworks display would not be possible without our sponsors, donors and supportive residents.  I hope you will consider making a donation in support of the 4th of July Fireworks.  I know there are many demands on your kindness, but I hope you will consider my request and help make this year’s festivities a well-organized summer celebration for the Town of Winthrop

One hundred percent of the expenses for the Fireworks display depend on donations.  Whatever your budget may be, please know that your efforts are appreciated by the volunteers of the Fireworks Committee, and by the residents who look forward each year to connecting with friends and neighbors at this important annual celebration.  On behalf of the entire committee, I appreciate your consideration of becoming a partner in making this year’s festivities a success.
Thank you for your generosity.
