We wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!
Due to the weather forecast, the Winthrop fireworks have officially been moved to Saturday night at 9:15pm.
Tasty Burger, Official Burger of the Boston Red Sox, is going to have a food truck at the Winthrop Public Landing this weekend. They will be there Saturday, July 5th from 12:00pm-10:00pm and Sunday, July 6th from 12:00pm-8:00pm. They will be serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and fries. Come down and grab some delicious food this weekend while you're on your boat, at the beach, watching the fireworks or just walking by the landing!

S.P.I.R.I.T.S. of NEW ENGLAND Paranormal Investigations of Winthrop is very proud to once again be part of the Ocean State ParaCon in Rhode Island this year on July 19th and 20th.~ 100% of all the donations will be given to the Autism Society of Rhode Island.
S.P.I.R.I.T.S. will be giving a lecture on their two night investigation of the USS CONSTITUTION and sharing audio and video evidence collected for you to listen and watch. Winthrop Beach Nourishment Project
TWO WEEK LOOK-AHEAD

The following work items will begin occurring for the Project.
You can expect to see these activities over the next two weeks.
Excavation of material from Bristow Street area of embankment
Temporary restoration of southern site
Demolition of existing Ballard St. parking lot
New drainage, curbing and sidewalks at proposed Ballard St. lot

Armor Stone Delivery
Delivery and spreading of beach material
Please be advised that the Contractor will not be working Friday July 4th.
Questions or concerns about the project should be directed to DCR Resident Engineer Steve Colometo, at the DCR trailer behind the DCR bathhouse on Winthrop Shore Drive, by visit or phone (617-539-4957) during regular business hours, ~Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.~~ In case of an emergency, contact 911 or DCR’s 24/7 emergency hotline at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency at 508-820-1428.
Winthrop Public Schools is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children, without charge, and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, under the age of 18. Beginning July 7, 2014 and running through Friday, August 15, 2014, meals will be provided in the Arthur T. Cummings School cafeteria, with access at the rear of the building (School Street entrance). Breakfast service will start at 9:00am and end promptly at 10:00am. The next Winthrop Farmers Market at French Square will be Sunday, July 13th. The market will feature produce from local farms, craft vendors, live music and food trucks.
Additional dates have been set for the following Sundays: July 27, August 10 and 24 and September 7 and 21.
St. John's Episcopal Parish will be offering their delicious Lobster Lunches by reservation only for pick up or delivery the last Saturday morning of each month this summer, June - September.
As always, the lunch includes a generous lobster roll, a bag of chips and a homemade triple chocolate brownie...all for just $15!!!
