From the Desk of the Town Manager- November 7, 2013
From the Desk of the Town Manager
The weekly newsletter from James McKenna highlighting some of the positive things happening around town.
November 7, 2013

We need to hear from you!
The town of Winthrop and MGH are working together to conduct a community-wide health assessment. If you are a resident of Winthrop or you work in Winthrop, please take about 10 minutes of your time to answer the following questions. Please note, the answers you provide are anonymous.  This means personal identifiers are not linked to your answers in any way.
Over the next two months, we will be talking to residents and collecting data through surveys and meetings. In the spring this data will be reviewed at a community forum where residents will have a chance to help prioritize issues and develop a plan to address them. A final report detailing this plan will be shared with the community in September.
To complete the survey, go to:
and click on the rink link for Quality of Life Survey

Thank you in advance for completing the survey and doing your part to make Winthrop a better place to live!

Winthrop Playmakers Announce Upcoming Performance of Steel Magnolias

Join the Winthrop Playmakers as they continue their milestone 75th season with their upcoming production of Steel Magnolias, directed by Stephanie Manning.

Set in small-town Louisiana, Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias has come to be one of the quintessential stories of friendship and trust. Truvy owns a local-homegrown beauty salon, where all the ladies who are “anybody” go to have their hair done. Six very different women who regularly gather there come together to share their secrets, fears and love for one another while engaging the audience in hysterical and neighborly gossip.  With characters that are touching, hilarious, and entirely realistic, Steel Magnolias is a production not to be missed.

Steel Magnolias’ ensemble cast includes Stephanie Cotten-Snell as Truvy, Christina Lonardo as Annelle, Nancy Tutunjian Berger as Clairee, Stanis Johnson as Shelby, Juliana Dennis as M’Lynn, and Carolyn Cafarelli as Ousier.  Running November 15, 16, 22, & 23 at 8:00PM with matinee performances November 17 and 24 at 3:00PM, you can purchase tickets now by visiting our website or by calling 617-539-1175.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
