As usual, whatever could go wrong, has and the project is more complex than we imagined. However, David Hickey and Steve Calla are working as hard as they can fighting the tides to fix the culvert. It would have been easier to have left the culvert for another time and just fixed the water main break, but the drainage of Ingleside Park is serious and could not be delayed. Good News is that there has been great progress. Furthermore, I want to thank you for your continued patience and understanding in this very inconvenient matter.
The Dalrymple School deal appears to be dead. The amended purchase and sale (P&S) date with Ocean Vista Partners has came and went. It appears the project will have to be renegotiated with another developer.
The DPW is working around the clock trying to stay ahead of this very pesky snow & ice storm that is crippling our snow & ice budget for the year.
- Robert A. DeLeo - New Speaker of the House
The Town of Winthrop would like to congratulate the new Speaker of the House, Bob DeLeo.
- Governor Deval Patrick - 9C cuts in Local Aid
Winthrop has received its share of the Governor's Budget Cuts. Winthrop has been cut $511,000 from its last quarter of FY09 local aid. It is devastating to both Town and School government. We are working diligently to devise a financial solution to this drastic cut in our revenue. These cuts are painful and will be felt throughout all aspects of local government.
