Free Ferry Day is Sunday, June 26! Preview the Winthrop Ferry's weekend service 6/26 at no charge (regular weekend service runs July-August). That day, the ferry departs Winthrop 9am, 2pm, & 7:15pm and leaves Rowes Wharf (back to Winthrop) at 1pm, 6pm & 8pm.

Work has started on the Community Garden project behind the Senior Center. We got off to a late start because of the bad weather, but we're now on track. Anita Petricone, Paul O'Donnell, and Peter Lombardi have been building the raised beds. There is more work to do, but we can now see "light"/vegetables/flowers at the end of the tunnel!
This will be the start of bigger Community Gardens around our Town.

A rabies clinic will be held July 9th from 9am to 11am at the former DPW garage behind the United Methodist Church off Winthrop Street.  Licenses can also be purchased at that time for $10.00.  The Winthrop Board of Health is holding the clinic.

License dogs beginning July 1st.  If you would like to register by mail, please download a Dog License application from our website at
Remember to fill it out with your check, as well as a self addressed stamped envelope, and a copy of a current rabies certificate.  The licensing period is between July 1st and August 15th.  After September 1st the Dog Officer will follow up and will be issuing tickets for non-compliance.  Applications can also be picked up at local groomers or in the Town Clerk’s Office.

As a reminder, dogs are not allowed in any “tot lots” (where children play) on or off leash.  Nor are they allowed to relieve themselves on School or Town Hall property.  Please be respectful of our beautiful town and its citizens!

The Winthrop Public Library & Museum is conducting an overdue items amnesty through June 30th, 2011. Patrons taking advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to bring canned food items to the library in lieu of fine money. All collected food items will be donated to the Winthrop Community Food Pantry.

The Winthrop Cultural Council will be exhibiting the works of Frank Costantino entitled "An Artist's Hometown Views with Selected Illustrations of Architecture at The Clock Tower Gallery. June Gallery Hours: Fridays 6-8, Sat. 2-6.  This show runs through June 25.
