Winthrop Ferry's weekend service to Spectacle Island has begun!

Spectacle Island offers some of the best amenities of the Harbor Islands:
Spectacle Island is ideal for hiking, swimming, boating, and learning. The Snack Shack is open 7 days a week! Stop in at a “green” visitor center with exhibits about the history and evolution of the island.  Go swimming on a sandy beach (one of the few on the islands) supervised by trained lifeguards in the summer. Take in panoramic views of the harbor and city from the tallest hill on the Boston Harbor Islands.

The Winthrop Ferry leaves the Town Landing for Spectacle Island at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm every Saturday and Sunday. It returns to Winthrop from Spectacle Island at 10:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm –
Don't miss that last boat!

And this Sunday, enjoy this special event:
MUSIC OF THE WAR OF 1812
1:00 pm; Length: 3 Hrs (If you're taking the Ferry, you’ll have to leave early!!)

Celebrate the Tall Ships and enjoy views of the Boston Harbor as Rick Spencer performs music from one of America's earliest wars.

Rick is recognized internationally as a scholar, researcher and presenter of music programs based on historic themes. The focus is on entertainment. They have been enthusiastically received at historical societies, museums, libraries and other academic settings from New England to California. Songs are presented acapella or accompanied on guitar and 5-~string banjo. These programs are designed to run for one hour, but can be adapted for longer or shorter presentations. Time is always allotted for questions and discussions.

And, of course, the WINTHROP FERRY also has weekend departures to Rowes Wharf - with a late night 9pm ferry coming back to Winthrop on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and a 8pm late departure from Boston on Sunday. Go to http://www.bostonharborcruises.com/boston-commuter-boat-services/ for Winthrop Schedule! Or pick up a schedule at the Chamber office, any of the Town's businesses, or Library.
